The 3rd edition of The APS Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale 2020 has been announced and will take place from 13th March to 18th April 2020.
The theme for the 2020 APS Mdina Biennale is regaining a Paradise Lost: The Role of the Arts. It will be focus on the relationship between enviroment and spirituality and whether art can have an impact on the contrast relationship between nature and materiality, focusing on the links with the protection of the planet, all species, human or otherwise, and the notion of spirituality within this seminal debate.
Artists are invited to propose artworks using video, sound, light, and virtual reality that engage with the above notions on the relationship between the human species and its role in generating, regenerating, or destroying its own existence on our unique planet.

The artistic director designated for 2020 is Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci.
The Mdina biennale follow the famous and huge Venice Biennale’s model and it takes place every 2 years, the first was on 2015 and then the 2nd edition in 2017 in the museum space of the Saint Paul Cathedral.
